| A new automated returns system is up and running in the Returns area of the Reid Library. |

|
The system consists of a check-in desk and automated bins and was designed and installed by Facilities Management at the University of Western Australia and local company Prime Motion and Control.
Designed with occupational health and safety in mind the check-in desk can be moved, at the touch of a button, between bins of returned books. Books are automatically raised to the correct level for ease of retrieval.
The new system is working well and as book returns increase benefits are becoming more obvious.
Library staff members are pleased with the new system and feel it is “space aged”, “ergonomically, it’s an improvement” and “it’s tidier and streamlined”.
