LibX Brings the UWA Library into Your Browser

The LibX web browser extension will be appearing very soon on library computers.

LibX adds functionality to Internet Explorer, by providing access to the UWA Library catalogue, Google Scholar, and Oxford Reference in a number of ways:

  1. A toolbar beneath the address bar.
This defaults to a direct keyword search of the UWA Library catalogue but can also be used to search Google Scholar and Oxford Reference Online.

  2. Automatic hyperlinks in web pages.
When you see an ISBN, ISSN or PubMed ID displayed in your browser, it will turn into a hyperlink. Click on it to instantly search the UWA Library for that book, journal or article.

  3. Right-click functions
If you highlight text on the page you are browsing, and then right-click on the highlighted text, you will get options to search the UWA Library depending on what you highlight. Right-clicking on highlighted ISSNs, ISBNs, PubMed IDs and DOIs will be automatically recognised.

  4. Direct links from cues in websites
Some websites, such as Amazon and Barnes and Noble will display small UWA cues that will search the library catalogue for the item being viewed.

Further information can be found by consulting the LibX Guide. You can also download LibX to install and use with your own computer.
