A powerpoint presentation with commentary of 21 famous paintings by classical artists of either famous medical men and women from years past, such as William Harvey, or medical events, such as the first anaesthetic to be given, or medical clinical conditions. some included by chance in their paintings, some deliberately portrayed, such as the possible cancer of the breast in Rembrandt's mistress (and model) or Valazquez's dwarfs. Almost all the paintings are familiar and by well known artists.
About the Speaker
Dr Jim Leavesley emigrated to WA in 1957 after graduating in Medicine from Liverpool University.
Please note that the ground floor entrance to the library, nearest to the carpark will be open from 7:30pm - 7:45pm.
