Monday 30th June to Sunday 27th July, the Biological Sciences Library will be closed due to building work taking place inside the Library as part of the new Science Library Building Project.
The Library has endeavoured to provide alternative services during this four week period, and apologises for any inconvenience to staff and students.
Can I still borrow from Biological Sciences Library?
Staff and students are invited to borrow items from the Biological Sciences prior to June 30. Library staff at the Maths and Physical Sciences Library will retrieve items from the Biological Sciences Library in the week of June 30, but they will be unable to enter the building from Saturday July 5th for safety reasons.
Can I borrow Reserve Items or 3 day loans?
Yes, as a courtesy, staff and students can borrow Reserve Items and 3 day loans from Thursday 26th June, and these will be issued with return dates of Monday 28th July.
How do I access journals while the Library is closed?
Many of our journal titles are available online, and you can access these as usual from your home or work. Titles which are only available in print will not be accessible during the Semester Break. We suggest you copy or scan articles prior to the June 30 closure. Scanning to pdf is free from Library copiers.
Will the Librarians still be able to help me with my research?
Yes, our librarians will still offer a reference service during the closure. The Biological Sciences Library email address (askbiol@library.uwa.edu.au ) and phone number (6488 2350) will continue to be monitored. Librarians at the Maths and Physical Sciences Library will continue to be available for appointments or drop-in advice.
Who should I contact with questions about this temporary closure?
Carmel O’Sullivan is the Manager of the Science Libraries. You can phone her on 6488 2836, or email cosullivan@library.uwa.edu.au .
