Accessing books and journal articles
Obtaining journal articles or copies of chapters of books
You can request that the Library send you copies of material held in the UWA Library. You can request copies of journal articles or copies of chapters in books. We cannot send you books, maps, videos, DVDs or other items that are normally borrowed and then returned to the UWA Library.
If an item is not held in the UWA Library, it may be possible to obtain a photocopy of the item through the Library's inter-library loan and document delivery service. This service is available to undergraduate students completing their honours year, postgraduate students and UWA staff. You can request copies of journal articles or copies of chapters in books. We are unable to send you books or other items.
Requesting material
You must complete a Get It request form to make a document delivery or inter-library loan request.
The material you request will normally be provided to you as a PDF document.
All requests must comply with The Australian Copyright Act. The Copyright Act allows one chapter or ten per cent of a book, or one journal article from any one issue to be copied.
Information services
Librarians are able to provide you with assistance in using the Library's resources and can help you solve problems related to library research and the use of information resources.
Alternatively, you can use the 24 hour electronic iPoint: FAQ | Ask a Question service.
Visiting Perth
If you are planning to visit Perth, you may wish to make an appointment with a Librarian in your subject area. They will help you make optimal use of the UWA Library's resources during your time in Perth. Contact your subject library to arrange an appointment.
