Services provided
If an item is held in the UWA Library in Perth you can request that the Library send you the item or a photocopy of the item. We can send you books, audiovisual items, photocopies of journal articles and photocopies of chapters of books.
If an item is not held in the UWA Library it may be possible to obtain it through the Library's document delivery service. You can request books and audiovisual items, photocopies of journal articles, and photocopies of chapters in books. This service is only available to undergraduate students completing their honours year, postgraduate students and UWA staff.
Requesting material
You must complete a Get It request form to request material from the UWA Library in Perth or to make an interlibrary loan request.
Loans
To view borrower entitlements see the Lending Services page. (Photocopies are not counted as items on loan and you do not need to return photocopies to the Library.) Books and other items must be returned to the Library by the due date. Items can be renewed twice if they are not overdue or requested by another borrower. Reserve and 3 Day Loan items are not borrowable. Contact your Subject Library if you wish to renew items.
Interlibrary loan items cannot be renewed and must be returned to the Library by the due date.
The items you request will be delivered by Australia Post Express Post. A pre-paid addressed Express Post satchel will be sent to you with the items you request. Please use this satchel to return items to the Library.
If you live near another Australian university library, you can also register there as a borrower as part of University Library Australia , the national borrowing scheme for staff and students. This may be a quicker and more efficient way for you to borrow books.
Photocopies
All requests for photocopied material must comply with the Australian Copyright Act. It allows one chapter or 10% of a book, and journal articles to be copied. You do not need to return photocopies to the Library.
