Adding a citation to your CMO list

UWA staff are able to add, edit or remove citations from CMO lists without intervention by Library staff. A guide is available to help you do this.

Searching for items

You can quickly and easily add a new citation to your CMO list by searching the digital repository; that is, adding any book chapter or journal article digitised for use by another unit, or any hyperlink to an online article or Web site.

You can also quickly and easily add a new citation to your CMO list by searching the Library catalogue.

Setting Demand Levels

Once all citations have been added to your list you will be required to set the demand level for all physical items. These demand levels will determine the location of the item and the length of time it can be borrowed. Possible demand levels are:

H = High use
Required readings placed into Reserve Collection for 2-hour loan
M = Medium use
Recommended readings placed on 3-day loan in the main collection
L = Low use
Additional readings that will remain in the main collection with normal loan period

This information is emailed to your Subject Library for action. More information about placing items in the Reserve Collection is available.

Requesting a new item

The University Library will undertake to locate, digitise, and mount any new items you wish to make available on Course Materials Online. In doing so, the Library will monitor compliance with the Commonwealth of Australia Copyright Act (1968) and Copyright Amendment (Digital Agenda) Act 2000.

The most efficient way to submit a request for a new item is to use the online Request for Digital Copy form, available to staff via the CMO Request link within the Course Materials Online system. The Library will process your request and add the citation to your CMO list as quickly as possible. You will be alerted via email when the item has been added.

Please note: the Request for Digital Copy form, is not for adding items to the physical Reserve Collection.

Requesting an item be placed on Reserve or 3-Day Loan

Not all items can be digitised and made available via Course Materials Online due to copyright restrictions. Although the citation will appear in the CMO list, these items, along with books and some non-print items, may need to be included in the Reserve Collection. More information about placing items in the Reserve Collection is available.

Can lecture notes and overheads be placed in CMO?

Lecture notes, overheads, tutorial solutions and other similar materials will not be included in Course Materials Online or the Reserve Collection. Instead, these materials should be converted into a format suitable for inclusion in WebCT courses.
