Background
The skills checklist has been extracted from a more comprehensive outcomes-based document, the Library's Information literacy curriculum framework. The framework identifies suggested learning outcomes for students at UWA. The framework was developed from the CAUL Australian and New Zealand Information Literacy Framework (2nd edition 2004). At this stage, the framework is for first year or introductory level students. The framework includes outcomes that are considered the responsibility of Library staff, academic staff, and of both academic and Library staff.
Purpose
The skills checklist is an outcomes-based list designed to allow academic staff and students to see a comprehensive list of suggested information skills outcomes for a first year/introductory level at UWA. It enables academic staff to select appropriate skills for their course. The checklist includes suggested teaching and learning activities, and assessment activities that academic and library staff can develop in partnership. Identify which information literacy outcomes you would like taught in your area and contact a librarian.
