When to search by keywords

Keywords are individual words and phrases taken from different fields in the library’s catalogue records. E.g. The author, title, subject or notes field.

Use keyword search if you are looking for items on a particular topic or if you know some details of a title or author but not all.

If you know the exact title, then prefer a TITLE search.

How to search by keywords Phrase searches, using AND and OR connectors, truncation. Advanced keyword searching Combining keywords with the search operators AND NOT and WITHIN and using quotation marks, brackets and wildcards.

Modifying your search

If you don't find what you are looking for, try changing your search words and limit options. Click on the MODIFY SEARCH button on the search result screen to return to the original search screen. Make some changes and try again!
