The UWA Library collects master's and doctoral theses for degrees granted by the University. The theses are held in the Thesis Collection, in the Scholars' Centre.
You can use the UWA Library Catalogue to locate UWA theses by:
Keyword
The most effective way to locate UWA Theses in your subject area is to conduct a keyword search.
You can conduct a keyword search to search for theses on your topic.
- Go to the UWA Library catalogue
- Conduct a search on your topic by typing relevant keywords into the search box
- Limit your search to UWA Theses by selecting UWA theses from the list of optional limits appearing under the Collection drop-down menu
- Click Search
Faculty
UWA theses are entered under the name of the faculty, school, department or discipline group under which they were published. To view a selection of theses in your area click on the relevant faculty name below. For more accurate or specific searching search by keyword.

Alternatively you can perform your own catalogue search for theses by faculty, school or department:
- Go to the UWA Library catalogue and search by author

Enter the name of the current school or faculty as below (consult the University Structure pages if you are not sure)

- Limit your search to theses after you have conducted the search by clicking on "Limit this search" and selecting "Theses (UWA)" from the Material Type drop down menu.
- Click limit/sort items retrieved using above data to compile a list of theses.
Subject
Theses can be found by Library of Congress subject heading in the same way as any library resource. Restrict the search to theses by selecting "UWA theses" from the drop-down menu underneath the search box.
Call number
Thesis call numbers begin with the word "Thesis", followed by the year in which the degree was granted, and the first three letters of the author's surname:
Thesis 1999 SMIA call number search for Thesis will enable you to browse a list of all theses in the catalogue, starting with the earliest.
A call number search for Thesis 1999 will enable you to browse a list of theses written in 1999 in alphabetical order by author.
