Add a printer to Mac OS 10.5.x Leopard

  1. In the Apple menu select System Preferences
  2. Click Print & Fax.
  3. Click the + button to add a printer.
  4. Click the Advanced button (Where's the Advanced button?).
  5. In the Advanced window enter the following settings:
    • Type: Internet Printing Protocol (http)
    • Device: Another Device
    • URL: http://snap-print.library.uwa.edu.au/printers/<printer_name>/.printer
      The <printer_name> is the name of the network printer you want to use available from the Printer List.
    • Name: snap-print.library.uwa.edu.au (PrinterName).
    • From the Print Using pull down select Select a diver to use...
    • Select the printer type associated with the desired printer as noted in the Printer List (e.g. HP Laserjet 4350 Series).
    • Click Continue.
    • Click the Add button.

This completes the addition of the printer. You may use the printer you added when connected to the UB network.

Where's the Advanced button?

If you don't see the Advanced button in the Add Printer toolbar:

  1. While holding CTRL click the toolbar.
  2. Select  Customize Toolbar...
  3. Drag and drop the Advanced icon to the toolbar.
  4. Click Done.
