Add a printer to Mac OS 10.4.x Tiger

  1. Open Print & Fax.
  2. Click the + button.
  3. Click the IP Printer icon at the top of the Printer Browser window.
  4. Hold down the Options key and click More Printers...
  5. For Device select "Internet Printing Protocol using HTTP".
  6. For Device name type the name of the printer you are installing. This can be any name - it is for your reference only.
  7. For Device URL enter the web address based on the name of the printer you are installing. The format of the web address is:
    http://snap-print.library.uwa.edu.au/printers/<printer_name>/.printer
    The <printer_name> is the name of the printer from the Printer List.
    Example: http://snap-print.library.uwa.edu.au/printers/LAWClient1/.printer
  8. For Printer Model select HP.
  9. Use the pull down list to select the printer type associated with this printer as noted in the Printer List (e.g. HP Laserjet 4350 Series).
  10. Click Add to add the printer.

This completes the addition of the printer. You may use the printer you added when connected to the UB network.
