Add a printer to Mac OS 10.3.x Panther

  1. Select Applications.
  2. Select Utilities.
  3. Select Printer Setup Utility (You will be adding a IPP printer).
  4. Hold down the Option key and click the Add button on the Printer Setup Utility window. This will open a new window.
  5. Select "Advanced" from the top pop-up menu (Note: In some updates of Mac OS X this field may not be present).
  6. For Device select "Internet Printing Protocol using HTTP".
  7. For Device Name type the name of the printer you are installing. This can be any name - it is for your own reference.
  8. For Device URL enter the web address based on the name of the printer you are installing. The format of the web address is
    http://snap-print.library.uwa.edu.au/printers/<printer_name>/.printer
    The <printer_name> is available from the Printer List.
    Example: http://snap-print.library.uwa.edu.au/printers/LAWClient1/.printer
  9. For Printer Model select HP.
  10. Use the pull down list to select the printer type associated with this printer as noted in the Printer List (e.g. HP Laserjet 4350 Series).
  11. Click Add to add the printer.

This concludes the addition of the printer. You may use the printer you added when you connect to the UB network.
