Troubleshooting authenticated access problems

If you are experiencing difficulties accessing a service from outside the UWA Network, please consult the following troubleshooting index.

Problem
Cause Action to take
I click on a link in the Library catalogue and it tells me that access is denied.
The resource you are attempting to use has restricted access, but is not currently offered via the authenticated access service. You cannot connect to this resource from outside the UWA Network.

Access is only available via Internet services offered by the University.

Error message received:
The UWA number and barcode supplied was incorrect. Please try again.
Your UWA number is your Person ID as identified on your UWA Campus Card

Your barcode number begins with ‘C’ and ends with ‘D’, eg. C1234567D.’

Attempt to access the resource again, and re-enter your correct details.

If the problem persists, please contact your subject library and they can verify if the information on your Campus Card matches your current patron record.

Error message received:
Invalid Patron Type. You are not authorized for access to this database.
Licensing and copyright restrictions require us to limit the availability of this resource.

You must be a current UWA student or staff member to access this resource.

If you are not a current UWA student or staff member then you can do nothing to access the resource remotely.

If you are a current UWA student or staff member and are receiving this message, contact your subject library. Be sure to leave your name, barcode and contact details so we can resolve the problem and get back to you.

Error message received:
Patron Expired. Our records indicate that your library card has expired.
If your UWA Campus Card is not valid, login attempts will fail.

UWA Library patron records have an expiry date in the system, usually the start of the next academic year (ie February).

Contact your subject library who will confirm your UWA enrolment status.
Error message received:
Your browser appears not have cookies enabled.
This service requires cookies to be turned 'on' in your browser.
You must answer 'yes' when offered a cookie from this site.

Please consult the help service provided with your choice of cookie-enabled web browser to toggle cookies on.

Error message received:
The authentication system is down, please try again later.
Your UWA number and barcode are verified against your UWA Library catalogue patron record.

In the event the library catalogue is unavailable, remote login attempts will fail.

Try again later, or report the problem to your subject library.
