The Library has created two tools to make searching the Library catalogue quicker and easier.

UWA Library Catalogue Search Google Gadget

The gadget above is live, try it out!

You can download the UWA Library Catalogue Google Gadget into iGoogle - your personalised Google homepage.  The gadget will enable you to search the UWA Catalogue by title, author, keyword or ISBN/ISSN.

OpenSearch Plugins (for Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2)

Upwards pointing arrowUpwards pointing arrowIf you're using Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox 2 you can add UWA Library catalogue searching above.

If you are using Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox 2, you can add the UWA Library catalogue to your list of search engines.  You can search the entire collection by title, keyword, author or ISBN/ISSN.

Adding the UWA Library catalogue to Internet Explorer 7

Please be aware that due to technical reasons, Internet Explorer 7 does not allow you to add more than three OpenSearch plugins from a single page, so you may not have access to the ISBN/ISSN search.

  1. Have a look at the top-left of your browser window, your search engine list button should now be highlighted in blue and orange.

  2. Click on the engine list button.  Under "Add Search Providers", you should see three options to add new search engines.

  3. After adding the new search engines, you should be able to select them from the menu.

  4. Try it out!  For instance, try an author search for Darwin, Charles.

Adding the UWA Library catalogue to Firefox 2

  1. Have a look at the top-left of your browser window, your search engine list button should now be highlighted in blue.

  2. Click on the engine list button.  You should see four options to add new search engines.

  3. After adding the new search engines, you should be able to select them from the menu.

  4. Try it out!  For instance, try a title search for Credo Reference.
