Web browsers

The Library Web site has been designed to be accessible using almost any World Wide Web browsing software, from the most sophisticated modern graphical web-browser to the simplest text-only browser. Some features of the Library Web site have been enhanced to take advantage of recent advances in web technologies, such as Dynamic HTML, and may only be available using modern browsers with JavaScript enabled (eg greater than version 4 of Netscape and Internet Explorer). These features are designed to assist your visit to the Library Web site, but an alternative should be available for those browsers which do not support them.

To get the best functionality when Web browsing from your home or work, we recommend that you regularly upgrade your browser to the latest available for your operating system. Most software companies are now producing Web browsers which comply with the World Wide Web Consortium standards. If you are using a browser which does not comply with these standards then you will increasingly find Web sites which will not work when viewed via your Web browser.

University staff are recommended to consult their department's technical staff before upgrading their Web browsing software.
