This guide is designed to introduce you to a selection of resources on evidence based practice which covers this new approach for clinicians in the medical, dental and allied health arenas. Evidence based practice is a tool for acquiring and applying new knowledge appropriately, a tool for dealing with the enormous volume of biomedical literature and applying it appropriately to the benefit of patients.
Below is one of the early standard definitions of what is meant by the term evidence based medicine,
"Evidence-based medicine is the conscientious, explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the care of individual patients."
