Networked databases

AESIS (1975 - 2000)
Australia's national geoscience minerals and petroleum database (AESIS) is published by the Australian Mineral Foundation. Beginning in 1975 it covers published and unpublished materials on geosciences, minerals and petroleum for Australia. To search AESIS records onwards use the Georef database.

ASCE Publications - Civil Engineering Database (1970 - )
American Society of Civil Engineers' electronic information retrieval service for all its publications published since 1970. Provides access to over 100,000 bibliographic and abstracted records. Links to full text for publications currently subscribed to by the UWA Library.

Compendex Web (1984 - )
The most comprehensive bibliographic database of engineering research literature, includes citations and abstracts from thousands of engineering journals and conference proceedings.

Engineering and applied science
Ten Australian databases covering aspects of engineering, transport, road research and water research. Includes Engine - Australian engineering databases (1980 -). Databases vary in dates of coverage and currency. Databases can be searched as a group or individually.

Georef (1785 -)
Is the American Geological Institute's geoscience database indexing all aspects of geology and geophysics as well as related disciplines. The database has international coverage dating from 1933, earlier records relate to North America only. Includes AESIS records from 2003 on.

IEEE Xplore (1988 - )
Provides full text access to journals, magazines, conference proceedings and standards of the Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Institute of Electrical Engineers.

INSPEC (1896 - )
Produced by the Institution of Electrical Engineers, INSPEC is the primary index for all aspects of electrical and electronic engineering, physics and computing. It also includes materials science, biomedical engineering and other cross-disciplinary areas of science.

MathSciNet (1864 - )
This database provides access to reviews, abstracts and bibliographic information relating to mathematical sciences literature. Provides links to full text publications currently subscribed to by the library.

PROLA - Physical Review Online Archive (1893 - )
Provides access to the publications of the American Physical Society.

ProQuest Computing (1998 - )
Search for computing journals in full text for research on subjects such as database design, software development, web commerce, LANs, WANs, Intranets and the Internet.

ProQuest Science Journals (1994 - )
The database contains articles and papers covering the subjects of computers, engineering, physics, telecommunications, and transportation. Provides links to full text articles and images.

ProQuest Telecommunications (1995 - )
Covers magazines, journals and newsletters in full text for telecommunications and related industries.

ScienceDirect
ScienceDirect is a database for scientific research that contains the full text coverage of Elsevier Science journals in scientific, technical and medical literature.

SciFinder Scholar
Provides online access to Chemical Abstracts (database of chemical literature and chemical related patents), CASREACT (chemical reaction databases) and the Registry (chemical structure and dictionary database) from the Chemical Abstracts Services. Access is available on all Library computers. Access from a personal computer on the UWA campus requires the installation of client software, which can be arranged by contacting a librarian in the mathematics and Physical Sciences Library.

Standards Australia Online
Contains the full text of all standards produced by Standards Australia plus indexes to international standards.

Web of Knowledge
A platform to access several research-related information products including Current Contents Connect, Web of Science, Journal Citation Reports and Essential Science indicators.

CD-ROM databases

CD-ROM databases can be borrowed from the inquiry desk at the MPSL Library.

Highway vehicle safety database
This database includes references and abstracts from articles on automotive safety from the 1960s onwards. It includes technical papers, journals and standards from organisations such as SAE, Stapp, NHSTA, ASTM and ISO.

Australian design rules for road vehicles
Provides an update of design and safety engineering standards and specifications for all tpes of motor vehicles manufactrued in Australia.
