Graduate Diploma of Education students

Orientation sessions

All students are expected to sign up for orientation sessions which are provided in conjunction with GSE in Orientation Week of first semester. These thirty minute sessions include:

  • a short tour of the Library
  • an explanation of the Library Services and facilities for Graduate Diploma students
  • an introduction to the Curriculum Collection
  • an introduction to the Library Web site.

Database sessions

Database sessions are offered in the early weeks of the semester. During these fifty minute sessions students:

  • are introduced to SuperSearch
  • are introduced to specialist education databases
  • are introduced to effective search techniques and strategies using these resources.

EndNote

Introductory Endnote sessions are offered in the EDFAA Library throughout the year. During these 50 minute sessions students learn how to:

  • to create an EndNote library
  • add references to a library, both manually and from online databases
  • manage references in a library
  • insert in-text citations into a Word document in a nominated style
  • create a bibliography in a nominated style

EDFAA Reference Librarians are available for individual appointments and can also organise sessions for individual groups.

Master of Education students

Introduction to Library services and resources

This Summer semester session is offered in January to introduce students to the Library’s services for postgraduate students as well as present some of the most useful resources for literature searches and thesis writing in the area of education.

Database sessions

Database sessions are offered in the early weeks of the 1st semester. During these fifty minute sessions students familiarize themselves with strategies for using SuperSearch and are introduced to specialist education databases and effective search techniques for using these resources.

  • to create an EndNote library
  • add references to a library, both manually and from online databases
  • manage references in a library
