We provide services for regional and offshore UWA students and staff.
Services are available to UWA students and staff who are living in Australia but outside the Perth metropolitan area, including postgraduate and honours students enrolled in the Albany Centre and those living on Christmas Island, as well as those living outside of Australia.
If you are planning to visit Perth, you can make an appointment with a librarian in your subject area. They will help you make best use of library resources during your time in Perth.
Contact your library to arrange an appointment.
If an item is held in Perth, regional students and staff, including undergraduates, can request the Library to send them the item or a photocopy of the item. We can forward books, audiovisual items (such as videos, DVDs or music CDs) and copies of journal articles or book chapters.
To request an item you must complete a Get It request form.

All regional and offshore students and staff can ask us to send you copies of material held in the Library, including copies of journal articles and book chapters. These are normally delivered online via Get It in PDF format.
All requests for copied material must comply with The Australian Copyright Act. The Australian Copyright Act allows one chapter or 10 per cent of a book to be copied. One article from any issue of a journal can be copied. More than one article in any issue of a journal can be copied only if the articles are on exactly the same topic.
Copied materials delivered in this way do not need to be returned to the Library.
You will need to join the Albany Public Library if you wish to borrow items held there. Audiovisual materials are held in the Albany Centre and are listed in OneSearch.
All of the online resources on the Library's website can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection, including the computers in the UWA Albany Centre.
All regional and offshore undergraduate students completing their honours year, postgraduate students, UWA staff and other special cases, including students with the Rural Clinical School, are eligible to place requests through Get It for items which are not held in the UWA Library collection in Perth.
In these cases we will endeavour to obtain the item from other libraries through Get It. You can request books and audiovisual items and copies of journal articles and book chapters. Copied material is usually sent to you in the form of PDF documents.
Inter-library loan items cannot be renewed and must be returned to the Library by the due date.
Resources identified by your unit lecturers as important for your units are listed in the Course Materials Online (CMO) section of this website.
Material listed in CMO may consist of books, book chapters, journal articles, selected cases and legislation, or government reports. Where possible we have digitised this material into a full-text format which can be accessed from this website.
Course Materials Online also provides links to the full text of past examination papers where available.
For Albany students, all books identified by your unit co-ordinator as essential will be available at the Albany Public Library. For any course materials required that aren’t held at Albany Public Library (for Albany students) or aren’t available online via CMO, consult with your tutor.
Online library courses can help you develop the skills to find information for your studies.
Librarians are also able to assist you in using library collections, resources and services. Librarians can advise on the use and interpretation of library catalogues, assist you with searching indexing databases, and help solve problems related to library research and the use of information resources.
