E-Library Learning Resources (ELLER) project

The E-Library Learning Resources project sought to design and implement a document management system to provide online access to the books, journal articles, and other resources needed by students as they undertake required coursework.

Often referred to as an "electronic reserve", the ELLER system would allow the digitisation and delivery of a variety of electronic documents to University staff and students.  Whilst the traditional Library physical reserve is bound by the opening hours of the Library building, an electronic reserve is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  The electronic reserve also improves access to information resources for local and remote UWA staff and students alike, since documents are accessible through common web browsers without the need to physically visit a campus Library.

In line with the University's increasing focus on online learning, the ELLER project also sought to design a system which integrated easily with modern Learning Management Systems (LMS) e.g. WebCT.

The ELLER project was responsible for the implementation of Course Materials Online in 2004.  The ELLER project is continuing from 2004 at the University level under the name Learning Resources System.
