Based on your responses in the Buildings and Space survey conducted in June 2007 the following actions have been implemented in the Library.
Across the Libraries
We have:
- Purchased and installed new photocopier/ scanner machines that provide colour printing and scanning
- Reviewed noise levels and implemented a Study zones policy which provides for a mix of silent, quiet and collaborative study spaces throughout the Library
Subject Libraries
In addition individual subject libraries have addressed specific issues raised in the survey.
Business Library
- Reid Library opening hours have been extended
- Signage throughout the Library has been reviewed
- In reponse to the high demand for areas to use laptops additional power points have been installed throughout the Library
Education Fine Arts and Architecture Library
- Additional computers have been added
Humanities and Social Sciences Library
- Reid Library opening hours have been extended
- Signage throughout the Library has been reviewed
- In reponse to the high demand for areas to use laptops additional power points have been installed throughout the Library
Law Library
- Library opening hours have been extended - the library is now open from 8am
- Signage throughout the Library has been reviewed
- In reponse to the high demand for areas to use laptops additional power points have been installed throughout the Library
Medical and Dental Library
- Library opening hours have been extended - the library is now open from 8am
- An additional group study room is now available
- Additional computers have been added
Music Library
The Music Library has been refurbished and now has:
- New group study rooms
- More study spaces
- Compact Discs and Reserve Collection on open access
Scholars' Centre
- Increased availability of staff during Library opening times
- Review of current lay-out to ensure access to power points
Science Libraries
A new Science Library is currently under construction, due for completion by 2009, it will incorporate the Maths and Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Undergraduate Physical Sciences Libraries. The new building will include:
- 12 group study rooms
- More computers
- Increased availability to power points and laptop facilities
- Diverse range of seating including zones for quiet and silent study
In the meantime:
- Additional computers have been added to the Biological Sciences Library
