You told us you would like better access to computers/Internet/software - so far we have

  • Increased the number of computers in the Humanities and Social Sciences; Maths and Physical Sciences; Education, Fine Arts and Architecture; and Law Libraries
  • Extended the wireless network in all of our subject libraries
  • Improved the Library Web site
  • Surveyed Library users to determine your scanning requirements
  • Installed a scanner in the Education, Fine Arts and Architecture Library
  • Installed five additional PC's in the Music Library

You told us you wanted more access to journals - so far we have

  •  Extended the availability of journals online by purchasing large back issues of electronic journals including:
  1. Agricultural and Bological Science ScienceDirect backfiles
  2. Annual Reviews complete archive
  3. Business & Management Wiley backfiles
  4. Chinese journal of contemporary mathematics
  5. Earth and Planetary Sciences ScienceDirect backfiles
  6. Economics, econometrics and finance ScienceDirect backfiles
  7. Engineering and Technology ScienceDirect backfiles
  8. Nature research journal archive collection
  9. Physics and astronomy ScienceDirect backfiles
  10. Royal Scoiety of Chemistry Archive
  11. Social Sciences ScienceDirect backfiles
  12. Toxicology, pharmacology and pharmaceutics ScienceDirect backfiles
  • Implemented SuperSearch so that you can search multiple databases to locate journal articles
  • Created an A-Z list of electronic journals that you can use to find specific electronic journal by title or subject
  • Implemented Find it @ UWA so that you can easily locate the full text of journal articles
  • Implemented Article Finder which allows you to check whether a specific journal article is available via the UWA Library
  • Made it easier for you to find your course readings with our new improved CMO
  • Subscribed to numerous individual titles

 You told us you wanted Library space that inspires study and learning - so far we have

  • Extensively refurbished the Law Library
  • Refurbished the Maths and Physical Sciences Library
  • Addressed the issue of noise in the Medical & Dental Library and the Scholars’ Centre
  • Painted the EDFAA Library
  • Provided new chairs on the Reid reading terrace
  • Provided new lounges in the Business Library

 You told us making electronic resources accessible from your home or office is important to you - so far we have

  • Made sure most of the electronic journals we hold are now available to you from home or work

 You told us availability of subject specialist assistance is important to you - so far we have

  • Begun a trial for the provision of reference services in the Undergraduate Physical Sciences Library

  • We have Librarians ready to provide expert assistance in all our subject libraries?
  • Our online Ask a Librarian service is available?

You told us you wanted help with identifying reliable sources of information - so far we have

  • Implemented IRIS (Introductory Research and Information Skills) for the Arts and Science faculties in 2006 so that you can learn to critically evaluate information and the information seeking process
  • Ensured “How to identify reliable sources” is now a learning outcome of every library training session we run for students

Did you know also that

  • We conduct regular information sessions on resource locating tools such as SuperSearch and Find it @ UWA?
  • We offer an online introductory course InfoPathways that shows you how to locate, and evaluate the information you need for your studies

 You told us you wanted the Library to be open longer - so far we have

  • Opened the Business; Education, Fine Arts and Architecture; Humanities and Social Sciences; Law and Medical and Dental libraries and the Scholar’s Centre for an extra 4 hours each Saturday
  • Opened a computer room in the Law Library that is available to Law students 24 hours a day

You told us you wanted a mix of spaces for group and quiet study - so far we have 

  • Refurbished the Law Library and Maths and Physical Sciences Library to provide better group study facilities
  • Created an additional group study room with a PC in the EDFAA Library
  • Created additional group study spaces in the MPS and UPS Libraries
  • Rearranged seating in the MPS Library to clearly differentiate group and quiet study spaces

You told us access to books and printed materials is important to you - so far we have

  • Actively acquired more print materials in a number of subject libraries
  • Increased the number of items Undergraduate students may borrow
  • Provided the same lending privledges to regional staff and students that are available to local staff and students
  • Subscribed to the Electronic Book Library (EBL) to increase access to texts
