Staff and students visiting from participating institutions can connect via UWA's wireless network to the internet using their credentials from their home institution, without needing to obtain a UWA account.

Find information

Even if you're not a current UWA student or staff member, you are still welcome to visit any of our Libraries and use a variety of our information and research resources.

Access to our print collections and online resources (licence permitting) is available to walk-in users.

If you wish to borrow items, or you plan to use the Library on a regular basis, you may want to apply for Library membership in one of the following categories:

  1. Staff and students from other Universitites
  2. Members of the public
  3. Official visitors to UWA
  4. UWA graduates
  5. Former UWA staff and retirees
  6. Friends of the Library members

Staff and students from other Universities

Staff and students from Australian and New Zealand Universities can apply to register as reciprocal borrowers. Membership is free and gives borrowing rights only.

Members of the public

Members of the public may apply for Community membership. Members receive a UWA Campus Card that serves as their Library card. Community members are entitled to borrowing rights only.

Official Visitors to UWA

Visiting staff and students may apply for Visitor membership, which allows borrowing and remote access to online resources.

UWA graduates

Subscribing (fee-paying) members of the Convocation of UWA Graduates are eligible to apply for Alumni Affiliate Library membership.

Subscribing members of Convocation who apply for Alumni Affiliate membership within the same calendar year as their graduation from UWA are entitled to 12 months membership for free.

Alumni Affiliate members receive a UWA Campus Card that serves as their Library card. Membership includes borrowing rights and remote access to a selection of online databases.

Former UWA staff and retirees

Former UWA staff (with at least 15 years work experience at UWA) and UWA retirees can apply for free Affiliate library membership.

Members receive a UWA Campus Card that serves as their Library card. Members are entitled to borrowing rights only.

Friends of the UWA Library

Friends of the UWA Library support UWA Library by acquiring items for its collections and generating interest in UWA Library services and collections. Friends of the Library members can apply for Affiliate library membership.

Members receive a UWA Campus Card that serves as their Library card. Members are entitled to borrowing rights only.

Eligible concession card holders (Commonwealth Health Care Card, Seniors Health Card, Pensioner Concession Card and WA State Seniors Card) are entitled to a 50 per cent discount on membership rates. Health Care Card holders are eligible for this discount on six and 12 months membership only.
